Visa-free entry and K-ETA
Korea permits visa-free short-stay tourism for nationals of around 100 countries. US, UK, Japanese, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, and most EU passport holders can stay up to 90 days without a visa. However, some visa-free nationalities are also required to obtain a K-ETA before arrival. Eligibility changes periodically β always confirm at k-eta.go.kr before departure.
How to apply for K-ETA
Apply through the official website (k-eta.go.kr) or the official app. You will need your passport details, a photo, your accommodation address in Korea, and a card payment of approximately KRW 10,000. Approval can take a few hours or over 72 hours, so apply at least three days before departure. An approved K-ETA is valid for two years and allows multiple entries.
Visas for purposes beyond tourism
Work, study, and long-term stays require the appropriate visa type applied through the Korean embassy or consulate in your home country. Allow several weeks for document preparation. Short-term business or media visas can be confirmed at visa.go.kr.
