Korea Nightlife and Late-Night Culture

Noraebangs, pojangmacha, night markets, and PC bangs — a practical guide to Korea after dark.

Noraebang (private karaoke)

Noraebang — private karaoke rooms — is one of the most distinctive parts of Korean night culture. Standard noraebangs rent private rooms by the group, charged in 30-minute to one-hour blocks. Coin noraebangs have smaller individual booths and charge per song — usually KRW 500–1,000 — making them ideal for solo or two-person visits.

Pojangmacha, night markets, and drinking culture

Pojangmacha are tented street stalls that serve light snacks and drinks, easy to find around Cheonggyecheon, Jongno, and Hongdae in Seoul. Makgeolli paired with pajeon is a popular combination, especially on rainy evenings. Seoul's Bam Dokkaebi Night Market runs seasonally at Hangang parks, DDP, and Cheonggyecheon — exact dates vary each year.

PC bangs and late-night transport

PC bangs rent high-spec computers by the hour with most open 24 hours at roughly KRW 1,000–2,000 per hour. Seoul subway last trains run between midnight and around 1am on weekdays. After that, night buses (N buses) cover major routes. KakaoT can call a taxi at any hour.
